on saturday we ventured out to the saturday market in eugene…i would like to rename it the hippie market but that probably wouldn’t go over very well..
i saw the most interesting people and things i’ve ever seen in my entire life….words really can’t even describe the free loving people we saw….i think this next picture however pretty much sums up the market as best as it can…..
they were seriously selling fresh picked rainbows…….the sign that was cut off in the bottom picture says please touch….
that was pretty much the feel of the market. it was also earth day…what a perfect time to be there…
it is interesting to look at people who live a completely different lifestyle from you and try to understand where they are coming from…but it helps you to appreciate differences, appreciate your life, and appreciate the fact that we can be whatever we want to be (i kind of sound like a hippie there)
after the market we headed to the store that max’s grandma works at. it is an all natural grocery store and she is responsible for ordering and supplying the store with all of the natural vitamins, herbs, natural remedies, and then natural beauty products like soap, lotion, make-up, etc. she is pretty much an expert in the area. she knows any type of natural medicine for any illness. it’s amazing. she also makes sure to order only the very best product that are produced in places that are environmentally friendly. we had a lot of fun hearing about all of the different products. we even discovered a love for fish oil…his grandma made us try this orange swirl kind and it was so delicious.
this is sariah, max’s cousin who also works at the store
after the store we headed to the university of oregon to check out a few things
1. this is where max’s dad graduated from undergraduate school
2. to check out the hayward field where the famous steve prefontaine ran
3. to check out the institute. my daddy was born in eugene and i believe that the first house he lived in was where the institute was. so we had to go back to his place of beginning. also my grandpa started the institute program at the university of oregon
now here are some random shots throughout the weekend
the tire swing
family movie night
and this is how we relaxed during the 14 hour drive. we stopped in a small town called burns and went to a pizza place that had an arcade which helped us to relieve some boredom
it was a really great trip and i have lots of more pictures that i am sure will be randomly posted….we can’t wait until we are able to go back again…
