hilton head island

after our wonderful time in utah we headed to hilton head island in south carolina. max's parents had invited us about a year earlier and we wanted to go but just didn't think we could make so we declined. about a week before we flew to utah i was going over things and realized we had a layover in Atlanta on our return flight home. which lead to the thought that hilton head was only 4 hours away from hilton head. so we collaborated with max's sister and decided to surprise max's and just show up. so for christmas we told his mom that the gift we ordered was back ordered and wouldn't arrive until december 27.

so we flew to atlanta (we skipped our last leg to philadelphia)...we rented a car and drove to charleston, south carolina where max's family was for the day. they had just entered a restaurant and when my mother-in-laws back was to the door we came in. his dad saw us first and just looked stunned. then his mom saw us. she looked shocked..her mouth dropped and she started screaming..loudly in the restaurant...it was awesome!!! it was SO much fun to surprise them. probably one of the funnest things ever...and i wish it was on tape...

but i did take about 1000 pictures...so here they are..

{this town loves their paula deen}

{i had to try southern food while i was in the south. i will say i was not disappointed}

{the resort was so beautiful}

{we spent our new years in Atlanta since max had and early flight to san francisco the next day. so for new year's i wanted to celebrate by going to a nice mexican restaurant. so max went to our trusted source of yelp and found the best rated place in atlanta. after driving though what seem like a very deserted part of town..we pulled up to this little joint. let me remind you we were in the middle of nowhere. we decided to order and took the food back to the hotel..and it was surprisingly good.

our news years was spent with more travel. max flew to the west coast and i made it back to philly. it was fun to come back to philly. i sure am in love with this city and am grateful to be living here.
