byu is an odd place...i absolutely love it...but oh man does it have weird quirks. i could probably list 50 odd things about byu..but there is one in particular i have been noticing A LOT...
people sing...
while that may not seem strange it the location and level of their singing that is odd.
it isn't a rare thing in the normal world to pass someone in say the grocery store hummin a little tune to themselves...i find my self frequently muttering lyrics to songs when i am home...
however at byu people tend to sing everywhere. it all began when i was walking from work to class when i heard a beautiful opera song beginning played quite loudly. since i was crossing the intersection i thought someone must be listening to their opera in their car...however once i got past the intersection the song continued...i then realized the girl walking ahead of me was singing...as loudly as she could...in very close to opera voice...
strange i thought..
but then it happened again and again...different people each time, but all were singing as loudly as they could
yesterday someone was playing the pianio in the wilk...people were putting away tables and chairs and yet i could still distinctly hear his voice (which was very good) singing about the racket...
it amazes me that level of comfort these people feel...good for them i say...it's just strange that this phenomenon seems to be taking over campus...

In my Young Women's class Sunday we had special visitors! They were the Noteworthy group. They were from a show called The Sing-off. I don't know if you've ever heard of that, but its a good show. Their lesson was soo good! almost everyone (except the Young Men) were crying at the end. Their voices were so good! I think they were from BYU.
