bah 150 words

i am getting a little annoyed at this everyday (including Saturday) writing assignment...if i weren't busy enough i have to remember this tedious little task of writing everyday....so sorry if these are starting to be exceedingly boring posts...lost is about the only thing exciting going one amongst all the homework ( but don't get me wrong...life seriously couldn't be better right now)

however i am volunteering at the utah state mental hospital and that has been one of the coolest experience. the patients are so awesome to hang out. once a week i go and we just play games and do crafts and just have so much fun.

it is fun to see their faces light up when you say hello and call them by name. of course that is followed by them telling you everything and anything about their day. you instantly become their best friend...for about 2 minutes..before they are bored of you and move onto the next person..but those 2 minutes are enough to brighten your day

it has been an extremely humbling experience as well. i am so extremely grateful for my mental health. it would be so hard to live in a world that was so different from everyone else. some of these patients are so detached from reality it breaks my heart. it makes me so grateful for the healthy and happy mind and life i have.

it gives me a stronger desire to pursue the things i am studying. i am studying harder and working harder than i ever have to learn all i can about the mental illnesses so someday i can make a difference in their lives.

most people are sometimes a little nervous around mental patients, worried that all of the sudden they may turn on you and try to hurt you or say something embarrassing to you..but really these people are just like you and i, their brains and feelings are just a little out of wack. but they still need to be loved and talked to and laughed with..

thats why i love going to the hospital every week...because it gives me a chance to see how valuable and powerful love and friendship are
