our weekend

our weekend started off with a trip to the philly christmas market...designed after the markets in Germany. it was almost exactly like the markets in beligum and germany and made me miss europe so much!

only in philly

christmas light show at macy's in philly

on saturday we went to NYC to see Wicked! best birthday present ever!
macy's on 34th and the empire state building (which max was very disappointed in)

the library

the most beautiful christmas tree (inside the library)

i appreciate that all of the taxi's in nyc are yellow...that's the one disappointing thing about philly...the taxi's aren't all yellow...i sort of think it should be mandatory for a taxi to be yellow..i'll see if i can start some sort of movement in philly

grand central terminal (not station..i read you sound like an outsider if you say station...and i don't wanna sound like an outsider..heaven forbid)

skating rink at bryant park

THE christmas tree

pretty sure the apple store was the COOLEST thing..it was just a clear box..and then we were standing on top of the store...oh apple..and max was very impressed...ignore the yawn...it was a VERY LONG day (we walked from 34th to 80th and back...with quite a few extra stops).

central park was by far my most favorite thing to visit..probably because there weren't so many people
the temple
go Mormons!!! huge, bright billboard in times square..prime spot over the McDonalds...that was probably the most exciting thing to see in times square..(ps the guy in this picture looks SO much like my Uncle Brian..it freaks me out every time I look at it...)
us at wicked...i was so excited i don't think i stopped smiling the entire show

words cannot even describe how amazing this performance was...oh.my.goodness...it was so powerful...i was so sad when it was over. i told max i was so mad it wasn't a movie..i seriously could watch it over and over and over again
times square at night was pretty awesome...i've never seen anything like it
max's caption for the picture: hey vader look at the plans for death star 3

it kind of creeps me out that times square is filled with adults dressed up like superheros and disney characters and sesame street characters..especially when minnie mouse comes running up to you and tries to get you to take a picture with her...as a child i think i would've been severely traumatized..
dinner at our swanky (it wasn't expensive but swanky just is such a good adjective) new york restaurant..it was very urban...(is urban a good adjective??)..umm..it was just fun..

oh and this was cute...

this trip was so much fun
sadly however a little piece of me died after this trip
i have ALWAYS wanted to live in new york
and max was looking at a few internships in the big apple
but after this trip i seriously don't think i could do it
there are WAY too many people...after max was hit by a guy on a
skateboard we decided it was just too crowded
i LOVE city living..i want to live in a big city forever...but i think i can only handle Philly city living..
so I said goodbye to a dream...i tried to fight it and convince myself that i still wanted to live there...but realized that maybe i was only hanging on because it was "cool" to live in new york but facts are i just couldn't do it...
but i will continue to visit lots...because after all it is new york..

WICKED is amazing! I'm so glad you loved it. It's too bad we couldn't have met up last weekend. We'll have to plan for another time!

Don't close your heart to NYC too quickly. December is the worst time to visit crowd-wise. There are so many bloody tourists it is unbearable! Next time come at the end of November. And visit the Upper West Side--so charming and free of tourists!
